Hiking Training
Goose in his backpack living the cushy trail life
Now that Goose is totally comfortable with his harness, we have started venturing out into the woods. We got him used to the harness by putting him in it at mealtimes. Next I started taking him out in the yard to explore for short periods of time. Now he comes running when he sees it.
Our first hike was 6 miles of carrying Goose in the backpack and holding him in our arms when he wanted some fresh air. He wasn't sure about walking on the dirt. I think it was a good introduction for the next hike where he got some real trail time.
Goose isn't afraid of anything. I love watching him investigate leaves and climb on the root balls of overturned trees. Everything is fascinating and it just feeds into the love of the woods I've had since I was little.
We're still at the beginning of Goose's training and each day is a new adventure. I'm excited for all the things he will get to learn and experience in his lifetime.
Macapony is excited to have a little brother. Since he came home with us, he has tried to befriend our other cats and they won't give him the time of day.
Goose loves to play with him even though he's a little rough. They are learning to play gently together and I can see them becoming great friends. Goose's confidence compliments Mac's lack of it and I am sure this will only strengthen their bond.
I'm planning lots of future outings with this dynamic duo so stay tuned. I'm also playing with some ideas to integrate learning a little about where we are adventuring.
I'm a little late this week but I plan to post every Sunday. Happy Adventuring!!!! See you next week.
