Radial Nerve Damage
Goose came to us with radial nerve damage in his front right leg. After talking to several vets about it, we decided the best course of action is to wait and see how much will heal on its own.
He started with folding his leg under him and sliding it on the floor. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, and his injury doesn't even slow him down. He can do everything a normal kitten does, including getting into all kinds of kitten trouble.
We were happy to see him progressing to a limp since the dragging could lead to injury and possible amputation down the road.
The second video is about 2 weeks after the first. He is able to put some weight on his leg and not have it collapse. You can see he is going back and forth from a full limp to a shoulder hobble. He uses his foot to smack the other kitties and to wrestle with Mac.
He has some feeling in his toes but still isn't able to knead or stretch them. I am hopeful to see the progress he's made so far in such a short amount of time. The vet is hopeful too.
He does a little better each week. He does seem to backslide a little after a lot of exercise or wrestling so I try not to overdo it when we go out into the woods.
I have a backpack and a sling to carry him when he gets tired. He seems to have adapted quite well to both and has fallen asleep during hikes.
I love seeing him all tuckered out at the end of an adventure.
I'll add to this post as his healing progresses.
